When I was little, I used to spend a lot of time at my grandma’s house where there was always a newspaper or a magazine nearby. She would read the paper while I watched cartoons or played with my favorite toys. As I got older, I started picking up the “People” magazines and the latest issues of “Soap Opera Digest” to read. I never thought of becoming a journalist when I was in elementary school. I enjoyed reading and I attributed my love of magazines to that. When anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer was always easy for me, “I want to be a marine biologist”. Fashion has also been a big part of my life since I was young, but I never realized it was a world that I could be a part of until I read my first fashion magazine in eighth grade. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to write for a fashion magazine in New York City. I’ve been writing the fashion column for The Rocket since my freshman year and other articles for the Campus Life section since I was a junior. Now that I’m a senior with a few years of experience under my belt, I’m looking forward to taking on the job of Campus Life editor. This year I’m looking forward to working with the staff of The Rocket to produce issues that we’re proud of, and that our school will be proud of too. After college, I plan on pursuing a career as a fashion journalist at one of my favorite magazines in NYC.
