The SLAB literary magazine held its reading release party last Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Russell Wright Alumni center.
SLAB (The Sound and Literary Art Book) is Slippery Rock University’s own literary magazine that seeks submissions from anyone local and around the world who is willing to share their artistic, creative works.
The magazine is celebrating its eighth annual issue and gave away copies to every person who attended the event. Many students and faculty were in attendance for the celebration.
There were “hands on” activities for visitors to the event. A chance to win an education pamphlet created by a student from the SLAB team was given by spinning a wheel. There was also a silent auction where people could read short stories written by students and guess which of the objects on the table they wrote about. The most popular attraction at the beginning of the release party was the button maker. Old magazines and comic books were provided for participants to cut out the surface for their button.
