My family always told me, If you’re doing what you love and are passionate about in life, then that’s when you’ll be the happiest. After a brief stint as an Exercise Science major, I found Journalism to be the right fit for me. I was never big into the news and what was going on around me as I grew up, and once I entered my freshman year here at SRU it all changed. I was mainly focused on the sports teams here, but learned that there is much more than sports to cover as a journalist. The things that occur on this campus is what makes us different and unique from every other school. Whether it’s the weekly SGA meetings, a pipe breaking in the Student Center, graduation tickets, or Dr. Norton addressing the student body, there is always something going on in the news. I began contributing to the Rocket my sophomore year, and loved every second of it. At first it was difficult for me to transition from covering sports to the news, but with the help of our great staff they helped make it a little easier. Besides working for the Rocket, I currently serve as the Vice President of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity here at SRU. In my time outside of school I enjoy working out, playing volleyball and baseball, and just experiencing new things! I can’t wait to work with this incredible staff and learn all I can from them! This will be a great year for the Rocket and all those who enjoy reading our paper.
