I’m Shelby Stearns and I am honored to be The Rocket’s copy/web editor for the fall 2015 semester. I happened upon my job here last year, and I am so happy I did. I love working with these talented individuals in such a constructive and fast-paced setting to deliver news to the good people of SRU.
I am a middle-level English/language arts education (4-8) major with a minor in writing. Throughout my time at SRU I have been involved with AM Slam Poetry Club, National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) and Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA). I have also worked at The Old Stone House and in various positions in Residence Life. During my final semester at The Rocket, I will be student teaching at Slippery Rock Area Elementary and Slippery Rock Area Middle School in fifth, sixth and seventh grade classrooms. I graduate in December and am excited to see where the future takes me.
When I’m not yelling at my friends about comma splices and semi-colons, I enjoy writing and performing poetry, reading, tweeting and fan-girling over dogs. I can’t wait to help The Rocket produce our award-winning paper for my final semester of college.
