Bonjour, je m’appelle Haley Barnes. I’m a senior journalism major with a French minor as well. I like to think of myself as a Swiss army knife. I can write, paint, draw, knit and speak French pretty fluently. As the returning News Editor, working for The Rocket has been one of the best parts of my college career because I get to create an awesome paper with creative people. Upon coming to college, I was this awkward, shy person that kept to myself all the time. I might still be awkward, but I am certainly not shy anymore. As the News Editor, my job entails a lot of interviewing and a lot of writing. But to be honest, my favorite part of my job is interviewing people. I love finding out the inside scoop and sharing it with the readers of The Rocket. Being the News Editor has turned me into a huge people person. Not to mention, I’ve learned how to polish my time management skills with a heavy academic workload and two on-campus jobs. I’m definitely a busy bee, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. In my spare time, I can be found watching a scary horror movie, drawing Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, listening to The Beatles, and head-banging at metal concerts. I’m certainly not your average journalist, but I aspire to be different.
