Slippery Rock women’s soccer closed out their season with a 4-0 shutout against Edinboro University earlier today. The win secured them third place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with a record of 8-3-3 in conference. Edinboro sits fifth at 5-7-1.

The Rock came out strong in the first half scoring their first goal of the night within the first three minutes of the game. The high-right goal was scored by Sophia Palermo, her fourth of the season.

The Fighting Scots had a chance to score with a free kick. Two shot attempts came directly after, but nothing came of it. The first was blocked while the second was saved by goalie Leah Allman.

After a yellow card on the Fighting Scots, SRU received a penalty kick from Palermo which resulted in their second goal of the night adding another tally to Palermo’s goals for the season.

While Edinboro could not find the back of the net after a shot attempt from Samantha Saylo, The Rock closed out the half with another goal by Yoder and an assist by Palermo. Yoder tallied her second goal of the season with Palermo clocking her third assist.

Slippery Rock came back for the second half just as strong, being able to keep Edinboro off the scoreboard after three shot attempts.

After a failed free kick given by Edinboro, The Rock came in with a high-center goal scored by Skylar Munnikhuysen. It was the senior forwarder’s second goal of the season with an assist by Sydney Patrick. Patrick is ranked first in SRU history for career assists.

After finishing up the conference play, The White and Green will start the PSAC tournament next Tuesday.
