Slippery Rock lacrosse traveled to Edinboro University last Wednesday to take on the Fighting Scots in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) showdown. 

The Rock entered the matchup with an 8-2 record while going 4-1 in PSAC action. The Rock came into the game with a chance to move into a tie for first place in the PSAC-West with Lock Haven University and Seton Hill University.  

SRU also entered the day having a perfect 18-0 all-time record against Edinboro.  

The Fighting Scots came into the game with a 2-8 record while having a 0-6 record in the PSAC. Edinboro was looking to claim their first conference victory since 2019 against Shippensburg University. 

The Rock would prevail 22-4, achieving their fifth victory this season by 10 or more goals.  

The Green and White spread around the scoring effort with 15 different players recording a point, 13 of whom found the back of the net.

Senior Camryn Whipple led SRU in points on the day with five, all of them being assists. Lauren Searles and Abby Fink led the way with three goals apiece. Charlie Rondeau, Brooke Wisniewski, Reagan Richeson, Isabella Buono and Maddie Blazey all beat the goal more than once as well.  

The Fighting Scots took the lead less than two minutes into the game with a goal from midfielder Rylee Jones. The Rock responded with two goals in less than two minutes courtesy of Wisniewski at the 12:22 mark and Erin Melcher with 11:58 remaining in the first quarter.  

SRU extended their lead to 9-2 lead at the end of the first quarter when Sydney Ulmer scored with one second on the clock.  

The Rock then took a 10-goal lead with 11:55 remaining in the first half to put the running clock into effect.  

Later they added 10 more goals, finished off with Shannon Von Kaenel’s tally. The Rock reached the 22-goal mark, their highest total of the season.  

Slippery Rock returns home on Wednesday, April 17 to host Lock Haven in a battle for supremacy atop the PSAC West.
