Rock women’s basketball drops non-conference game on the road

On Saturday, Slippery Rock lost their third straight game, this time at the hands of Tiffin University. The Rock (2-5, 0-2 PSAC) and the Dragons (4-5, 0-0 G-MAC) went back and forth throughout the first half, but the game belonged to Tiffin in the second half as they went up by as much as 15 points.

The Rock held the lead ten different times, but nine came in the first quarter and their
largest lead was by four points. Tiffin’s bench put on a stellar performance, as their bench scored 39 points compared to The Rock’s 12. Tiffin also outscored SRU on the fast break 21-6, and scored 15 second-chance points.

The highlight for Slippery Rock was Brooke Hinderliter, who ended the game with 18 points,
four assists, and five rebounds. The Rock had Madison Johnson and Daeja Quick add 14 points each. Quick tallied five assists and five rebounds, while Johnson recorded three rebounds. Aarion Nichols led the Dragons with 21 points, while Savannah Richards came off the bench and put up 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds.

Tiffin put up a 43.6% field goal percentage and down the stretch converted 45.5% of
their shots to seal the win. The Rock went 5-25 in three-point shots, making only one in the second half, despite shooting 14. The Rock also went 37.1% in the field in the whole game.

The Rock has dropped all of their last three contests by double-digits, after scoring 108
points in their win against Salem University. Women’s basketball returns to action on Saturday at Shepherd University, where they will play the second of seven straight road games. Slippery Rock doesn’t play a home game until January 6, when they will play Cal U in a conference matchup.
