Slippery Rock students would not be categorized as sports frenzied.  It is rare to have a huge crowd at any of the the sports games on campus. However, the recent basketball game against IUP drew a massive crowd.

Although the game ended with a Slippery Rock loss, the Slippery Rock spirit in the gym was impressive.  I have not been to a game on campus recently that could compare.  Everyone dressed in white and piled into the seats, chanting, cheering, and feeding off the energy in the room.

I would love it if every basketball, football, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, etc. game could draw such a huge crowd.  It would make going to each game that much more enjoyable.

The feel of a packed stadium is so much better than that of a empty house.  The game is more exciting, the players get pumped, and the crowd has a great time.  Despite the devastating loss, the experience of the crowd was one of the best I have experienced.

For those of you that end up sitting in your rooms almost every night, grab some friends and find a game to cheer for.  It should not matter what team it is, cheer for Slippery Rock and show your pride.

We all need a break once in a while.  Only so much studying can be done in one sitting and TV gets old after awhile.  Going to any sporting event, even if you are unsure of the rules, can be a great distraction.

Slippery Rock is a great school.  We have great facilities, great on campus living, and a great faculty.  Our sports enthusiasm, however, is a little bit lackluster.  If we could pack every game like the white out agains IUP, every game would be as exciting.  It is never too late to join in on the fun, take a seat in the crowd and cheer, “Lets go SRU!”
