Breaking news: robbery at The Grove

A robbery occured at The Grove early this morning, according to an e-mail sent from SRU Communications to students, faculty and staff.

According to the e-mail, sent around 9 a.m. today, University Police were called to assist Pennsylvania State Police in responding to a “strong-armed robbery” – a type of theft which involves the use of a weapon along with intimidation or force. The incident took place at The Grove, an off-campus apartment complex on Harmony Road.

The incident resulted in one known injury. The victim, who is a non-student, was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh for medical treatment of a fractured skull, the e-mail stated.

Pennsylvania State Police is investigating the incident and has identified persons of interest, the e-mail reported. The investigation is ongoing, and Pennsylvania State Police will release more information once they know more.
