A middle-aged adult male was found dead at Campus Edge apartments on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Campus Edge resident Trevor Blose, who lived two apartments down from the residence of the deceased, ambulances arrived at the apartment complex at approximately 4:15 p.m. Blose also said that he and his girlfriend had noticed a suspicious smell over the past few days, but assumed that the odor was coming from a dead animal or garbage nearby.
“My girlfriend and I probably noticed the smell late Saturday night or early Sunday morning,” Blose said. “We were thinking about notifying someone about the smell, but didn’t really think all that much of it. The smell was significantly worse throughout the day today.”
No official time of death has been given by Slippery Rock Borough Police. An officer at the station relayed that until the family of the deceased was properly informed, no information will be released to the public.
There is no evidence to support that this incident has any connection to the reports of individuals posing as maintenance workers at University Village as speculated on various social media outlets. The Rocket will continue to relay information as it is provided to us. A follow-up story with more details on the incident will be released in the coming days.
