A single-car crash occurred Tuesday in Slippery Rock along Centreville Pike after a dump truck crashed into a utility pole due to a brake malfunction.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning in a construction zone, where traffic was formed into a single lane. The driver of the dump truck lost control of the dump truck and drove off of the road to avoid damage to more cars.

Jack Lindey, a junior digital media production major, was at the end of the line in traffic and saw the accident firsthand from his truck.

“I heard a horn blasting behind me and by the time I was able to look up, a dump truck was headed off of the road beside me,” Lindey said. “He took out a power line pole and flipped the truck on its side. Thankfully, there was a West Penn power truck in traffic, who got out and shut the power off right away.”

The truck drove off the side of the road at about 15 miles per hour and knocked the power out in the area. Emergency vehicles arrived on scene shortly after.

The driver sustained no injuries from the accident.
