Dr. Kurt Schimmel, the Dean of College of Business, Information and Social Science announced on Thursday that he is stepping down from his position.

Schimmel started serving as dean in 2011. He formerly served as an associate dean of the School of Business at Robert Morris University.

The announcement was made by email to the BISS faculty in which Schimmel thanked the staff for all of their contributions and help in making the college a “tremendously successful unit” over the last three years.

“While I look forward to working hard and continuing these efforts, at the end of this term, I will be stepping down as dean. Thank you once again and let’s continue the progress,” Schimmel continued.

Schimmel will transition into a position as a professor in the Business department next semester.

Schimmel preferred not to comment on the matter.

SRU Provost Philip Way and President Cheryl J. Norton could not be reached for comment.
